Estimado/a compañero/a Cineasta:

Hemos creado un NUEVO FESTIVAL KURSAAL-AI de cortometrajes cinematográficos generados con Inteligencia Artificial (AI) totalmente separado del ya clásico Kursaal Film Festival San Sebastián que se empezará a llamar KURSAAL-CINEART.

A lo largo de la historia de la cinematografía se han ido incorporando avances tecnológicos para contar historias audiovisuales como el sonido, el color, los VFX, etc. y ahora nos llega la AI.

 

INVITACIÓN PERSONAL

Si estas leyendo esta carta es porque has recibido una invitación ( personal e intransferible ), en tu cuenta de Instagram, para participar en esta primera edición del KURSAAL-AI. Con esta invitación puedes liberarte de pagar la tasa de inscripción de 10€. El único requisito es que cuando rellenes el formulario de inscripción pongas el nombre de tu cuenta de instagram ( @nombre ) en el campo "Distribuidor".

Por si no lo sabias, el Kursaal Film Festival San Sebastián (KFFSS) no recibe ningún tipo de subvención para de ese modo poder garantizar nuestra independencia y nos financiamos únicamente con las inscripciones de los compañeros cineastas. De modo que si quieres ayudar al sostenimiento de este festival de cineastas para cineastas puedes pagar la tasa voluntariamente.

Las inscripciones del KURSAAL-AI ha empezado YA el 1 de noviembre de 2025 
y el resto de la programación es :

a.- Inscripciones del 1 de noviembre de 2025 al 31 de enero de 2026.
b.- Notificación el 25 de febrero de 2026.
c.- Festival del 1 al 31 de marzo 2026.
d.- AI Weekend Fest (AIWF) con entrega de premios el 28 y 29 de marzo 2026.

 

Las bases del KURSAAL-AI son muy parecidas al KURSAAL-CINEART, pero con un solo género como “AI” y sin separar la ficción, animación y documental. Añadimos una nueva temática de ADVERTAISING (Publicidad) que en este momento es la que más está demandando este tipo de talentos humanos que usan herramientas de AI.

Además, hemos añadido la INSCRIPCIÓN DIRECTA al festival. Esta es una novedad en atención a las reiteradas solicitudes de los cineastas que nos habéis pedido poder hacer la inscripción directa en el festival sin tener que hacerlo a través de las plataformas del tipo Festhome, Filmfreeway, Clickforfestivals o Movibeta. Por este motivo a partir de ahora hemos abierto un tutorial con el procedimiento y el formulario para que los cineastas podáis inscribir vuestras películas en nuestros festivales directamente pagando solo los 10€ de la tarifa estándar.

Y también, a partir del año 2026 vamos a repartir más trofeos. Todos los accésit de nuestros festivales van a tener incorporado el trofeo del “Filmmaker’s Dragonheart”.  Te recordamos que cada trofeo es una pieza única numerada y que representa al “Corazón de Dragón de los cineastas”. La inteligencia artificial solo es otra herramienta técnica más para contar historias, que necesita del talento humano para darle la forma cinematográfica. Desde el Kursaal Film Festival San Sebastián (KFFSS) estamos para ayudaros.

NOTA: Para todos aquellos que se inician en el mundo de la distribución de sus películas en los festivales os recomendamos leer detenidamente las reglas de participación de cada festival y fijaros especialmente en los requisitos. Esperamos sepáis comprender lo difícil que es para nosotros tener que rechazar algunas películas porque no cumplen nuestros requisitos.

ENGLISH INVITATION
 

Dear Fellow Filmmaker,

We have created a NEW KURSAAL-AI FESTIVAL of short films generated with Artificial Intelligence (AI), completely separate from the long-established Kursaal Film Festival San Sebastián, which will now be called KURSAAL-CINEART.

Throughout the history of cinema, technological advancements such as sound, color, VFX, etc., have been incorporated into audiovisual storytelling, and now we have AI.

 

PERSONAL INVITATION

If you are reading this letter, it is because you have received a invitation ( personal and non-transferable ) on your Instagram account to participate in this first edition of KURSAAL-AI. This invitation exempts you from paying the €10 registration fee. The only requirement is that when you fill out the registration form, you enter your Instagram handle (@name) in the "Distributor" field.

In case you didn't know, the Kursaal Film Festival San Sebastián (KFFSS) doesn't receive any subsidies in order to guarantee our independence, and we are financed solely by registration fees from fellow filmmakers. So, if you'd like to help support this festival by filmmakers for filmmakers, you can pay the registration fee voluntarily.

 

Submissions for KURSAAL-AI opened on November 1, 2025,
and the rest of the program is as follows:

a/.- Submissions from November 1, 2025, to January 31, 2026.
b/.- Notification on February 25, 2026.
c/.- Festival from March 1 to 31, 2026.
d/.- AI Weekend Fest (AIWF) with awards ceremony on March 28 and 29, 2026.

The KURSAAL-AI rules are very similar to those of KURSAAL-CINEART, but with a single genre, "AI," and without separating fiction, animation, and documentary. We've added a new theme: ADVERTAISING, which is currently the area with the highest demand for this type of talent using AI tools.

In addition, we've added DIRECT REGISTRATION to the festival. This is a new feature in response to repeated requests from filmmakers who have asked us to allow direct registration without having to use platforms like Festhome, Clickforfestivals, or Movibeta. Therefore, we've now created a tutorial with the procedure and form so filmmakers can register their films directly for our festivals by paying only the standard €10 fee.

And also, starting in 2026, we'll be awarding more trophies. All runner-up prizes at our festivals will include the "Filmmaker's Dragonheart" trophy. We remind you that each trophy is a unique, numbered piece that represents the "Dragon Heart of filmmakers." And one more thing, which you might not know, the Kursaal Film Festival San Sebastián (KFFSS) doesn't receive any subsidies or sponsorships and is financed solely by filmmaker registration fees. Achieving this financial independence allows us to remember all the fellow filmmakers who received the runner-up prize (without a trophy) in previous editions, and who will now receive the “Filmmaker’s Dragonheart.”
 

 Artificial intelligence is just another technical tool for storytelling, which requires human talent to give it cinematic form. At the Kursaal Film Festival San Sebastián (KFFSS), we are here to help you.

NOTE: For all those new to festival distribution, we recommend carefully reading the rules of each festival and paying special attention to the requirements. We hope you understand how difficult it is for us to reject some films because they don't meet our requirements.
